The second measurement to take is the length of the strap. There are actually two measurements to take here: the tail end buckle end, with the tail end being slightly longer. You will see this written as two figures separated by a stroke: for example 120/80 would be a watch strap that was 120mm long at the tail end and 80mm long at the buckle end. I needed watchband I wouldn't feel under my wrist when I set it down between bouts of typing or video games, and this band does that perfectly. I barely even notice it's on my wrist at all, and the black hardware and brown strap go perfectly with my black watch dial.

A few quibbles: - This watchband will not work for big wrists. I'm 6'3\" with average wrists (can just touch my thumb and middle finger wrapped around my wrist), and the last hole barely fits me.

- At first I thought the leather was a bit thin, but then realized it's almost too thick to get between my watch and watch pins. So I think they actually had a good tradeoff here. Just a note to suspend judgement on the leather thickness until you install on your watch.

For our 2021 update, Haley Perry researched dozens of watch bands and tested 15 of them to find options for an even wider range of needs and occasions. These included vegan leather alternatives, bands designed for intense workouts, jewelry bracelets, and slim bands tailored more for smaller wrists.

For our first round of testing, we took 15 leather straps, three Milanese loop-style bands, and six metal bracelets to watch experts and asked them to consider the quality of the bands compared with both Apple Watch straps and watch bands in general. They examined the look and feel of each band, and they helped inform us on style trends and other things to look for, including small details, such as if the band slides around on the lug or how it tapers. (One thing that stood out as especially important with leather bands was stitching. Good stitching helps make a band more durable than bands that are glued or otherwise fused together.)
